The Clearfield Jefferson Suicide Prevention Team
The Clearfield Jefferson Suicide Prevention Team is dedicated to reduce the
occurrence of suicide within our two county areas. The Team will achieve
this goal by promoting awareness and prevention by offering programs to the
community at large. We will provide interventions to all groups from the
faith based community to the business community and establish support groups
for survivors. The team goal is for everyone to learn how to identify the
person who may be suicidal and then know what to say to get him or her help,
he or she so desperately need. We are committed to ongoing efforts to
advocate for solutions and combat stigma. The Team would like to see,
suicide, a topic we can freely discuss.

Disaster Crisis Outreach and Referral Team (DCORT)
The Disaster Crisis Outreach and Referral Team (DCORT) is a function of the
Local MH/MR Administrative Office mandated by the Office of Mental Health and
Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS). The purpose of DCORT teams is to provide
psychological and emotional support to victims and first responders following
a natural or human-caused disaster or incident. The team consists of members
ranging from licensed counselors, mental health workers, educators, nurses,
administrators and members of the community.
DCORT members receive ongoing training to prepare them to assist with the
psychological needs of a community after an incident. This may include meeting
immediate needs such as “comfort provisions” for victims and
responders, providing educational information regarding the emotional and
psychological impact of an incident on individuals and communities, staffing
Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) following an incident, and providing
post-incident outreach and referral services to those affected by an incident.
The Clearfield/Jefferson DCORT can only be activated by the Emergency
Management Administrator in each of the two counties and is coordinated by the
Behavioral Health Program Specialist in the MH/MR Administrative Office. For
more information about DCORT and its functions, please contact the Community
Connections Office at 814-371-5100.
